My little worker

Upon preparing to install some shelves for my lovely wife I thought I had a little helper. We got the wood ready, hammer, drill, etc.. I was excited to have him by me as we set to surprise mommy. He handed me the hammer and the little wood pieces. Then came the power tools, ho ho ho ho... I began the drill only to stop because Luke was yelling, "Hey!!!!! That hurts my ears daddy. Hurts my ears! Stop." With that, and placing his hands over his ears, he turned and left me to work alone. So begins his days of living in his fathers light of staying away from hands-on work.

This snow is for you daddy

Luke always has to take a couple of his cars with him wherever we go. Leaving the house to shop, Luke steps out and said, "Here daddy" so I would hold his cars for him. I take his cars to put them in my pocket when I see why he has decided to let them go. Mumbling barely so I could hear him, "Snow daddy" he bends over to take a handful of this powdery precipitation and turns to me, "I throw snow at daddy." Then with a smile that could and will melt hearts for a life time he cocks his arm and threatens to throw the cold stuff. Not knowing when he would let go I tried to take it from his hand. As he laughs at me I find that he had already spotted my jacket with white. "I throw snow at daddy."

Part 2- Waking from my stay at my mom's house I lay across the couch to take in a couple minutes of TV. Luke runs around the counter and stops right in front of me with a HUGE smile. The right arm I noticed begins to cock back signaling a flashback for me and laughter from him follows. Before I knew what was going on I had snow in my lap. "I throw snow at daddy."

How Cute

Before my wife and I leave the house we have to lock our Boston Terrier, Rocky, up so he won't play pee-and-go-poo around the house. The kitchen is his cell until we return to grant him bail. Before Luke and I went shopping I locked Rocky up and was headed for the door when Luke went over to the barrier and began saying, "It's okay Rocky. It's okay... yeah, it's okay." You should have seen the look on this boys face. The sensitivity and sympathy he had for his best bud. I almost felt bad for Rocky, until I remembered the surprise treats he leaves for me to find. Luke told him, "we'll be back. It's okay Rocky," then we were out the door. "Love you Rocky" Luke rang out.

"Yup, he sure did."

Beginning my morning with the nice sound of my son playing with my dog Rocky from the living room. I went and laid down beside my wife while she slept. I just relaxed and listened to Luke run and play. Then he came back to the bedroom and looked in at me. "Come see Rocky's poop daddy. Rocky poop." What?! I went in to see the disaster that had taken place near our door. As I shook my head Luke continued, "See Rocky poop." I really have to get this kid to learn how to let the dog out.

Come again?

Luke has stepped into a little bit of my spotlight since he has been born. If I try and cuddle with my wife he will come and get between us. As this became a more common act with him I would tell Luke to "Get off my Kool-Aid." This is a reference to your mate, lover, partner that I got from a movie. Its another way of letting someone know that this person belongs to you first and foremost. Well LeeAnn was getting ready to leave for work and I was out the door putting Luke in his seat when I mentioned that mommy would be out soon. She stepped out the front door and Luke says, "My Kool-Aid." What?! "My Kool-Aid daddy." With a smile I asked him, "This may be, but could I at least have a drink once and a while?"

What did I Teach this Boy?!!!!

I say some non intelligent things sometimes. Mostly to kid and get a reaction, but I have tried to cut down on that since Luke. Well when you get around friends and comments start flowing, some interesting things come out. My phrase for a little while was, "Keep talking and I'll knock your face!" Being wary of where my son is at all times I must have mentioned this at some point because he let me know today. I was walking back into our living room when I saw Luke chasing our dog Rocky. Rocky was trying to get away like usual, but this time Luke was close on his tail saying, "Rocky I'll knock your face. I'll knock your face." As he is warning Rocky he is swinging his arm to actually knock the other end of Rocky. I had to try and explain the best I could to a two year old that we don't say that, which is hypocritical on my part because I actually said it first. I honestly haven't said this for some time. I don't even know how he remembered this. All I can say is that we really have to watch what we say around this boy. Although he could make a nice robot if I program him correctly.

Mamma's Bras

by Lukas
My daddy and I went to K-mart the other day to CHRISTmas shop for mommy and look for Grandma Howard. We went up and down the aisle, up and down the aisle searching. Daddy said, "Maybe she is over by the baby stuff bud. Should we check?" I responded, "I comin." Daddy then told me that maybe we should start yelling for grandma. He started and I joined in, "GRANDMA, GRANDMA, where are you?" No luck. She wasn't anywhere to be found. Daddy went and asked a worker if she could help us find grandma. The woman said she would page her to the front. As daddy was telling this woman the name of grandma, which I think was Ruth, (don't know I've never heard this before) I noticed over Daddy's shoulder something familiar. "Momma's bras daddy!!!! Mamma's bras. Daddy momma's bras. Over there. I found them." Daddy just smiled at the woman and then answered me, "yes buddy, those sure are bras over there." "Momma's bras daddy." We never did find grandma, but I sure did find momma's bras!!!!

Happy Birthday Great Grandma

Last Thursday was Tony's Grandma's birthday. In the morning on Thursday, Tony woke Lukas up and got him dressed and around since he was going to be watched by Grandma. Lukas calls her Great Grandma. Tony tells him while getting him dressed that he's going over to Great Grandma's house and that today is her birthday. 30 minutes later, as they are walking into Great Grandma's house, as soon as Lukas sees her, he says, "Hi Great Grandma, Happy Birthday!" Tony and Great Grandma had huge grins on their face, from being surprised that Lukas would remember what Tony had told him in the morning, when Lukas was barely even awake when getting dressed.

God Bless this food we are about to eat

We've been trying really hard to get into the habit of saying Thanks to God at dinnertime during the past month. Tonight as we just sat at the table, we remind Lukas that we needs to say prayers before we eat. He reaches out his hands to hold our hands and he squints his eyes in trying to close them and also peaks up at each of us before we start praying, to see if we are doing the same. During the past month, Tony has been leading us in prayer. Well tonight Lukas starts right in before Tony even starts and Lukas says, "Thank You Jesus for our foooood". And Tony and I looked at each other, trying so hard not to laugh at his cuteness, but definitely couldn't hold back the huge grins we had. We repeated his thoughtful words and continued on with the prayer. Today marks the first day that Lukas has initiated and said the first line of dinnertime blessings.

I got a Booger

Let start this blog out with a story about the title itself. I'm thinking that this story has happened probably about a month ago and we still aren't quite sure where he's picked this technique from. Anyways, this little boy of ours started the 'oh-so-boyish' thing to do and starting picking his nose. BUT, this isn't the usual one finger up the nostril technique. He chooses the two finger, thumb in the nostril and index finger on the outside technique. Sorry if thats too graphic or too much information for you. As much as we try to stop this habit from starting and try to prevent it from future-embarrassment, it is really quite cute and funny to see a 2-year old use this method. And so precise. LOL!! Again, we aren't quite sure where he's picked this up from, or if its just a thing that 2 year old boys just pick up. I think it has to do with the number of colds that he's had in the recent months and well he just has things that are bugging him up there and feels the need to take care of them. The next part gets me too. Once he actually accomplished his mission and retrieved some gold, he holds his finger out to me and says, "I got a booger". And.... well... of course I couldn't help myself and just crack up at him. And then of course I proceeded to get him a Kleenex to dispose of this gold findings. I give him the rundown that every mother gives, about how to not pick your nose and we blow our nose with a Kleenex. Well do you think he's learned that over the last month?? Of course not. He is probably told once a day the same old words that we've started telling him when this first started.... "No fingers." Simple as that and the finger is usually out of the nose. LOL!!!
